So make a note to place your air pump where it is properly ventilated and the air that is being drawn into the pump from surrounding space is cool.

This temperature paradox also poses a secondary problem in that a warmer bath breeds anaerobic pathogenic bacteria. As the water temp increases the amount of dissolved O2 decreases therefore the environment is prime for a pathogenic bacterial explosion. Fortunately, we can combat the proliferation of bacteria with more oxygen! Hence the 24/7 operation. This solution however can also pose a problem if the air that your air pump is introducing is warmer than the bath water.

Yes and No..In the past I always ran the pump 24/7 but recently I have been running it 15 minutes on 30 off with no real or perceived difference. Bottom line is its all about DO levels which are influenced by a variety of factors most notably water temperature. The cooler the water the greater the capacity of the water to retain gaseous oxygen. Unfortunately, clones root slightly better in a bath that a bit on the warm side (76-78F).

Does the pump have to run 24/7?

@0513josh Those are Sure To Grow(STG) inserts my good friend, I myself personally never used them before, but my pal has some heavy meaty roots in those cubes, no Ph problems, something difficult in rockwool if unchecked or messed with too much, Get em’ online or any grow shop around town, ask for sure to grow, they’ll know what you mean! -daniel
