@Steve83B Cause America has no idea how to run its public education it isnt cause its Public… Your country doesnt charge enough tax its as simple as that your country hasnt had a good “Conservative Money Goverment” since Regan and he was iffy sometimes, your country is all spend spend spend but your country doesnt charge enough tax how much tax do you pay on yours sales tax? we pay 13-15% whichever province we live in…

@Lotsoffun111 Well, perhaps you can explain to us why the “one of the best Health Care System” loses a good chunk of its doctors to the United States and why the entire nation of Canada has less MRI machines than the city of Pittsburgh?
Just a side note, if you “paid” for something then…wait for it…IT IS NOT FREE. Oh, and I think you meant to say “through,” not “threw.” I suppose you’re about to tell us how awesome the educational system is over there as well?
@jdewberry1 Not all deserve it! There are people in Europe standing up against it. We don’t deserve the horrible future the majority of the people are creating for us. It’s truly heartbreaking to watch these countries, with so much history and rich culture, all go to waste.
@smiledammit24 Western Civilization is Western Civilization. You cant contest to its definition. Democracy, liberalism, freedom of thought and other forms of liberties have initiated in Europe. The Renaissance and Age of Enlightenment, just to name a few. There’s no denying that America are the frontiers of Western Civilization today; they are the 21st Century Roman Empire, if you like. Nevertheless, Europe must also be appreciated for its contributions, especially Britain and Western Europe.

@wormer104 Theirs is only solvent because the US has their back. Look at their defense spending vs ours…it’s a complete joke….we provide for their protection.

It’s really a good deal for Europe (and to be honest, it’s a good deal for the US too) because if they had to shoulder that on their own, it would bankrupt them. It’s way more than the most europeans realize…things like ICBM”S, long range heavy bombers, SSBN’s and other advanced Naval Forces…stuff they simply do not have, and could not afford on their own.
So, by your dumb logic, we should pay MORE for a system that already proves to be failing. If my account keeps getting me audited, I should give him a raise? No, I fire his ass and get another accountant
And it’s not just public education, EVERYTHING our government runs is bankrupt. Amtrak, the Post Office, Social Security, Medicare, Medicade.
@jdewberry1 Europe is also the homeland of Western Civilization, which we find all over the Americas and Down Under today, mate. It may have had bad ideas come out from time-to-time, but it’s also the homeland of democracy, the industrial revolution, freedom movements and the very language you and I speak today.
I don’t think it sucks and I hope it doesn’t spiral into “dhimmitude”.
@BahrainNina And yet the “children” of Europe fought bitterly to be rid of their European overlords. That says volumes about it. The homeland of Western civilization today is the United States—the vast majority of Western inventions, publications, scientific advancements, commercial products, successful movies, TV shows, music records, etc. are American. American culture has definitively become “the Western culture.”
@smiledammit24 well now that u broughtit up our students have a higher avg mark then yours, well unless there in private school paying 35,000$ a year if you wanna ay that go ahead man, and yes there is a problem with MRI meachines but i wouldnt wanna go to a private practice and pay alot more money then you would if you had social healthcare
@henrycate Im from Canada we are the big ol’ bad socialist country when really we have one of the best Health Care System (Free paid threw our taxes), The USA seem to have a problem with high taxes… the USA have some of the lowest taxes in the world, America is run with fear now i dont like Micheal Moore but he has a great Doc. everyone should watch about the dif. between Canada and the USA about things like do people lock there doors at night to guns in households etc.
@Lotsoffun111 You are wrong on so many points that it’s hard to even begin. One point is “define Socialism.” Originally, it mean, “public ownership of the means of production.” But now, in Europe, it just means their huge welfare state and income redistribution.
A second point is “helping out others.” The US has never had a problem with that. The issue is the same issue as “Don’t waste food” or “Don’t waste money.” Helping others should be done on the local scale.
@jmelkis Well, you could always explain yourself. Do you mean that the Vandals, the Visigoths, etc. were “not savage?” Do you mean that Rome was not overrun by Germanic tribes?

Our public education is Free like you say, (paid through taxes), it’s falling apart. Why would we want to go that route with our healthcare system?
